Facing Silence
I keep them in,
my earbuds, my guards.
They who are protection,
from the blizzards.
I keep them to hide,
to forget what became.
But it's still inside,
the guilt and the shame.
I cannot face the silence.
I cannot bear it like this.
My mind begins to commence,
memories I do not miss.
Without my shield,
I'm overrun.
They do not yield,
what's been done.
I fear the silence,
for in your absence all I hear is violence.
